The Dental Associates of Marquette team at work in their Marquette dental office

About

We want you to get the care you deserve.

A general and family dental practice in Marquette, and the people who have made it one for decades.

There is no clever origin story on this page, because the real story is simpler and better: people come to work here and then they stay. Our business manager started in 1978. Our senior hygienist joined in 1989. One of our dentists assisted in this office before she went to dental school, and her father practiced here before he retired.

Our Mission

Our Mission

Four lines, written by this practice, that still describe how we work.

  1. To assist our patients in their journey toward the highest level of dental health personally comfortable for them.

  2. To strive to achieve excellence in all aspects of our professional care through continual growth and evaluation.

  3. To accomplish this with the greatest degree of safety, care, kindness and comfort.

  4. To enjoy the journey.
The closing line of our mission statement

Our Story

We grow our own

This practice has never had much staff turnover, and the careers here tell the story better than any timeline could.

Tammy McClellan, 1978 to today

Tammy started as a "girl Friday" while she was still in high school. From there: the front desk, treatment assistant, the preventive hygiene program, office manager in 2000, and business manager in 2010.

A father and a daughter

Dr. Taylor Kreis is the daughter of Dr. Mark McGovern, who practiced here before retiring. She assisted in this office before college and dental school, and now she treats patients in it.

Marquette natives, home again

Dr. Schetter grew up here as Mindy LaBelle. Dr. Glover swam for the NMU Wildcats before dental school and came back in 2026 to start his career in the town that raised him.

Careers, not stops

Sue Madden joined our hygiene team in January 1989 and has 40 years of experience in the field. Connie Nelson came in 1998. Rachel Koltvedt in 2006. Liz Lasich in 2007.

Our Team

Twenty-nine people, and most of them have been here a long time

Three dentists, eight hygienists, two managers, eight dental assistants and seven administrative assistants. This is the part of the practice we are proudest of, so here is everyone.

The letters, in plain language

DDS
Doctor of Dental Surgery, the dental degree earned at dental school.

Extra coursework beyond licensure on jaw joint disorders and on recognizing signs of sleep-disordered breathing.

Dentist

Taylor B. Kreis, DDS

She may look familiar. Dr. Kreis assisted in this office before dental school, and her father, Dr. Mark McGovern, practiced here before he retired.

Dr. Kreis was born and raised in Marquette and worked as an assistant here at Dental Associates before heading to college. She received her bachelor's degree in biomedical sciences from Central Michigan University and her Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the University of Michigan. She chose dentistry because it let her combine a love of teaching with the chance to help patients who are nervous or in pain, which is exactly the kind of appointment she is best at. Outside the office she enjoys working out, fishing, hunting, Michigan athletics and time with family. She is happy to be home serving her community, and we are glad to have her back.

Meet our Hygienists

A few of the letters after their names, in plain language: DDS means Doctor of Dental Surgery. RDH means Registered Dental Hygienist, a licensed clinician who cleans and assesses your teeth and gums. Several of our hygienists hold extra state licensure to give local anesthesia and to administer nitrous oxide sedation, which is why comfort options are usually available in the hygiene chair too.
