Welcome

A Marquette practice, built by people who stayed

Dental Associates of Marquette is a general and family practice in the Chippewa Square Professional Center. We look after children coming in for a first visit, adults who need a crown they have been putting off, and grandparents who have been our patients for years.

What makes this office different is not the equipment, though we have good equipment. It is that the person who cleans your teeth this year is very likely the person who cleaned them last year. Our business manager started here in 1978. Our senior hygienist joined in 1989. Two of our dentists are Marquette natives who came home to practice, and one of them worked as an assistant in this office before she went to dental school.

For Our Youngest Patients

Happy Visits are free, and we will do as many as it takes

Very young children are invited to come in at no cost simply to look around, meet the staff and sit in the chair. No treatment, no pressure. The first visit is usually around age two, and many parents schedule it alongside their own hygiene appointment.

If your child is not ready after one visit, we do another one. Still no charge. We keep going until the chair feels ordinary and a real hygiene visit is easy. That is the whole point.

  • Completely free, every time
  • Best started around age two
  • Repeated at no charge until your child is comfortable
  • Can be scheduled during your own cleaning

Why Dental Associates

Reasons families stay with us for decades

Not slogans. Things you can check.

The same faces, year after year

Our hygiene team's start dates read 1989, 1998, 2006, 2007, 2015, 2021 and 2022. Our business manager started in 1978. You are not meeting a stranger every visit.

Dentists who grew up here

Dr. Schetter and Dr. Glover are both Marquette natives who came home to practice. Dr. Kreis was born and raised here and worked as an assistant in this very office before dental school.

Built for nervous patients

Four of our hygienists are separately licensed to give local anesthesia and to administer nitrous oxide sedation. Intraoral cameras let us show you what we see so nothing feels like a mystery.

Care for the whole family

Free Happy Visits for toddlers, sealants and fluoride for growing teeth, and dentures and gum care for adults. One office, one set of records, everyone.

We keep work in house

Extractions and wisdom teeth are done here rather than referred out, and when a specialist places an implant we fabricate the abutment and crown ourselves.

Straight talk about cost

We will explain what your treatment involves and help you work through your insurance coverage. What we will not do is let a benefits schedule decide what your teeth need.

In-House Oral Surgery

Wisdom teeth, handled here

Most extractions, including wisdom teeth for teens and young adults, are done in this office. That means you are not waiting weeks for an oral surgeon's schedule to open up, and you are not paying for a specialist referral you did not need.

  • Wisdom teeth removal for teens and young adults
  • Most extractions done in our own office
  • No long specialist waits
  • No added cost of a referral you do not need

If a case genuinely calls for a specialist, we will tell you plainly and help arrange it. Most do not.

For a permanent tooth that has been knocked out, timing matters more than anything else. The best outcome comes from treatment within 30 minutes. Call us before you do anything else.

If a permanent tooth is knocked out

  1. If the tooth is dirty, rinse it gently under running water. Do not scrub it and do not remove any attached tissue.
  2. Put the tooth back in the socket if you can.
  3. If you cannot, hold it under your tongue or place it in a cup of milk.
  4. Call us immediately at (906) 228-9594. The best outcome comes from treatment within 30 minutes.

If you have a toothache

  1. Rinse your mouth to clear any food debris.
  2. Take pain medication as directed on the bottle.
  3. Do not place aspirin on or near the tooth. It will burn the tissue.
  4. Use an ice pack over the area if there is swelling.
  5. Call us as soon as possible at (906) 228-9594 to get an appointment.

Act fast. If the tooth is a permanent tooth and it is dirty, rinse it gently under running water, but do not scrub it and do not remove any attached tissue. Around age two. That first visit is usually a Happy Visit: your child comes in at no cost simply to look around, meet the staff and sit in the chair. Nothing is done to their teeth. It builds confidence and gives us and you a chance to trade information. Many parents book it during their own hygiene appointment. If one visit is not enough, we do another at no charge, and we keep going until your child is comfortable enough for a real hygiene visit.

We remove wisdom teeth and perform most other extractions right here in our office for the majority of patients. That saves you the long wait for an oral surgeon's schedule and the added cost of a specialist referral. If a particular case genuinely calls for a specialist, we will tell you plainly and help you arrange it.
